Some days the fibro pain is so bad that even my hair hurts. Now, I know I'm not alone! Sometimes, my enability for the day is fixing my hair! :)

New Year
I started the new year with my wonderful husband. Since our boys were away with our church youth group, we had the night to ourselves. As we watched the ball drop in Times Square and the acorn drop in Raleigh on TV, we toasted the new year with sparkling organic apple juice. 2012 was off to a good start!
I awoke this morning to a fibromyalgia flare and unfortunately, was unable to attend church. My husband shared our Sunday School lesson with me when he came home. Just like changing channels on a TV, we have "channels" to choose as we live our lives. The past is channel one; the present is channel two and the future is channel three. We should strive to live on channel two - the present. The Bible tells us, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own". Matthew 6:34 NIV
I have to live my life pretty much one day at a time, because I never know how I'm going to feel. Certainly, I plan for the future, but oftentimes, my plans have to change due to my illnesses. It's easy to live in the past and feel sorry for myself, but I am trying really hard, with the Lord as my rock, to focus on the present.
Today is a good example. I've spent almost the entire day in bed, but God enabled me to cook a traditional New Year's Day supper of black-eyed peas, collard greens and ham for my family. I was even able to make my family's favorite pie (Grandma Hunter's Chess Pie). I am grateful for how the Lord enabled me to carry on a family tradition today.
Thank you, Lord, for all the enabilities you gave me in 2011 and for the ones I know I will receive in 2012. As one of my former ministers always said, "The best is yet to come"!
Happy New Year, ya'll! :)

Yesterday's Enablities
Yesterday, I was recovering from a migraine, so I felt unable to do anything. It's hard to see the blessings somedays, so that is one reason I decided to do this blog. We must count our blessings daily! "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
Two of my "enabilities" for yesterday included fixing dinner for my family and lesson planning. Thankfully, I had a frozen lasagna in the freezer! I was able to complete weekly homeschool schedules for my sons thanks to a wonderful form I found online here: http://moneysavingmom.com/2011/07/free-downloadable-homeschool-planners.html
Planning ahead can help tremendously on the days when energy resources are running low. I found some great ideas for meal planning at http://www.menus4moms.com/ . The Busy Moms Menu looks great!
Have a blessed day! :)

Invisible Illness Week
“You don’t LOOK sick!” No, I don’t. But did you know that nearly 1 in 2 people in the USA have an INVISIBLE ILLNESS, such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, lupus, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, autism, bipolar disorder, cancer, heart disease, migraines and many more. I am 1 of the 2. Are you?
9/12-18/11 is Invisible Illness Week. Check out this website: http://InvisibleIllnessWeek.com/ for more information. Care enough to be informed. You never know how much someone is suffering silently.
